| Graduation is June 1st. Scary. I'm an adult.... basically. And I don't quite know what I'm gonna do. But I'm trying to figure it out. One day at a time. Love, Katie | | |
| *Sigh* Life's exhausting..... Last weekend was fun. My audition went well. They apparently really liked me, so they told Holly. of course while I was auditioning everyone was like "Are you HOLLY'S sister????" lol. Don't worry, it's a good thing because everyone likes Holly there. All the professors are AMAZING at Montevallo, one even played at CARNEGIE HALL which completely baffles me. lol Oh, and the opera was fantastic. Natalie was Pamina and she was honestly the best one. Well, duh. that's the lead. haha Although they were all REALLY REALLY REALLY talented. But Natalie sings opera so well and so seemingly effortless. The Queen of the Night, Holly and Natalie's friend Melissa, was really really good too. Especially since her part is crazy high. Funny thing about her aria, the whole thing is her telling Pamina, her daughter, to kill sarastros and if she doesn't she'll disown her. The first line is "Hell's revenge cooks in my heart" Kinda violent, but it's in German you'd never know. lol. Oh, and Papageno was really good too. I loved his songs. It was just really great and I can't wait to be a part of that next year. School's been rather stressful for me. Lots of work. And the AP exam is coming up. And I've got senioritis, I admit it. I can't wait to graduate. But then I know I'll miss everyone but I guess that's unavoidable. In other news, I FINALLY got glasses. I kinda like them. I'll put up a picture or something. They make me look intellectual. haha... I know funny for Katie cuz she's such a dumb blonde. Laugh it up. lol. hehe... I got today off from school because it's Good Friday. I'm gonna miss the Catholic High scedule next year. Oh, and Holly's coming into town so YAY! Well, I hope everyone's well. I miss you guys a lot!!!! Love ya!!! Katie : ) PS- HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!! | | |
| So, Saturday is my music audition at Montevallo. 9am sharp. I have a theory test too... oh joy. But I'm singing some good songs: - "Danza Danza Fanciulla Gentile" (Italian aria but it's about dancing and it's very lively and fast)
- "Warum Willst Du Andre Fragen?" (German love song. very pretty)
- "The Beauty Is" from The Light in the Piazza
So hopefull this will all be good. I'm so nervous. I think I'm gonna wear my St. Cecilia medal I got at the National Basilica for extra grace/luck/whathaveyou. (she's the patron saint of singers and musicians) I also have a recital and Stations of the Cross rehearsal this weekend.Which reminds me.... I'm now singing TWO songs at CHS's Stations of the Cross. I just found that out tonight. lol. Anyways, I love our Stations. We have a living/acting part and it's accompanied with liturgical and secular music partaining to each station. I'm singing two songs from Godspell which is kind of broadway AND religious since the whole thing is taken directly from the Gospel of Matthew (a little trivia for ya there lol). I'm singing "By My Side" for Simon Helps Jesus Carry His Cross and I'm singing "On the Willows" for Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross. They've never done a song there before and never On the Willows so it'll be an experiment. But on the good side this weekend I get to see Holly and we're going to see Holly's friends Natalie and Melissa in Mozart's The Magic Flute!!!! I'm so excited!!!!! Natalie's playing the princess and Melissa's playing her mother aka The Queen of the Night. And then I'm gonna go out with Holly and Natalie afterwards which should be very fun. YAY! Anyways, I've got a busy weekend ahead. WISH ME LUCK!!! AND PLEASE PRAY FOR ME GUYS!!!!! <3333 Katie On the Willows (Matthew 26:20-30) Lyrics On the willows, there We hung up our lyves For our captors there Required Of us songs And our tormentors mirth
On the willows, there We hung up our lyves For our captors there Required Of us songs And our tormentor's mirth Saying Sing us one Of the songs of Zion Sing us one Of the songs of Zion But how can we sing? Sing the Lord's songs? In a foreign land? On the willows, there We hung up our lyves...

| I HAVE SO MANY FREAKING AUDITIONS IN APRIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, starting March 31, I'm beginning a long road of singing in front of judges, panels, and future professors. It's super nerve-racking. I have: Montevallo music department; AMTA (Alabama music Teachers Association ; Redstone Village; HCCA scholarship auditions; Senior Recital for Huntsville (I'm like the ONLY singer, everyone else is playing piano); possibly the CHS Talent Show; and one more scholarship audition. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! BTW SENIOR TRIP WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was probably one of the best weeks of my life. I had so much fun and we didn't have any trouble. It was just great... btw I put pictures on Facebook. Pray for Holly, she's having surgery on Monday. Me and my mom are going to Montevallo to take care of her. So for Spring Break I'm watching my sister and making sure she doesn't do anything dumb on painkillers. FUN FUN FUN.... It's okay, I love my sister. By the way, sorry I didn't make it to 42nd Street. I really wanted to, but I was in Washington D.C. I hope it went well! I hope everyone has a great spring break! LOVE YA!!!! Katie Btw... this song is AMAZING.... Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae Three little birds, sat on my window. And they told me I don't need to worry. Summer came like cinnamon So sweet, Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.
Maybe sometimes, we've got it wrong, but it's alright The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same Oh, don't you hesitate.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song You go ahead, let your hair down Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams, Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely, Sipping tea in the bar by the roadside, (just relax, just relax) Don't you let those other boys fool you, Got to love that afro hair do.
Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change. Don't you think it's strange?
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song You go ahead, let your hair down Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams, Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
'Twas more than I could take, pity for pity's sake Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer? Do what you want to.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song You go ahead, let your hair down Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams, Just go ahead, let your hair down.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song You go ahead, let your hair down Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams, Just go ahead, let your hair down.
Oh, you're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow
